Traffic will be rerouted in downtown Winnipeg Saturday to make way for the annual Santa Claus Parade.
The parade starts at 5 p.m. on Saturday at Portage Avenue and Young Street and will run east on Portage Avenue, south on Main Street to Water Avenue.
The City of Winnipeg has announced the following streets will be closed:
* Portage Avenue from the east side of Sherbrook Street to the west side of Main Street will be closed at 3 p.m.
* All streets crossing the closed section of Portage Avenue will be closed at Portage Avenue except for Carlton Street, Donald Street and Smith Street. These streets will close at Portage Avenue at 4 p.m.
* Portage Avenue East eastbound will be closed at 3 p.m.
* Main Street from St. Mary Avenue to McDermot Avenue will be closed at 4 p.m., except for the northbound lanes north of Portage Avenue and the southbound lanes south of Graham Avenue
* Pioneer Avenue from Westbrook Street to Main Street will be closed at 4 p.m.
* Water Avenue from Main Street to Waterfront Drive will be closed at 4 p.m.
* Westbrook Street from Portage Avenue East to Water Avenue will be closed at 4 p.m., except for the northbound lanes between Pioneer Avenue and Portage Avenue East
* York Avenue from the east side of Fort Street to the west side of Main Street will be closed at 4 p.m.
Also, the following streets will be closed to all traffic and parking for parade marshalling purposes:
* Furby Street between Broadway and Portage Avenue.
* Langside Street between Broadway and Portage Avenue.
* Young Street between Broadway and Portage Avenue.
Winnipeg Transit Service buses will be re-routed in the parade area between 3 p.m. and 11 p.m. Saturday.
All streets will be reopened by 8 p.m. on Saturday.
